Moving on....

  Our sitting room

After almost twenty years we are moving house.

This is the flat in which Jamie and I met many years ago.  It was a party house during our 20's with decks in the corner, massive speakers and a lot of socialising.  It's very central so it was a good flat to go back to once the bars and clubs were closed!  We met, split up, got back together again, made 3 children, grew up, redecorated, stopped partying all with this flat as the backdrop.

It's lovely - high ceiling, big sunshine windows but it's too small.  All the children are in one bedroom as you can see and the room above is the only reception area.  Z is at the age where he'd like sleepovers and all the children need more space for hide and seek!

We have put in an offer on a new house and if that goes through I'll be posting about that too - I just want to make sure it doesn't fall through before getting too excited.  I know that in many years time we'll look back fondly at this flat so I wanted to post some pictures of it before we go.

It has been the happiest of spaces for me and I'm quite sentimental about leaving it.

    1. That is a lovely way to look at it and really timely as I was a little worried about the new house not having the same 'vibe'. But you're right - that's what you create in a house once you've made it your own.

    1. Thank you and of course - you're welcome to move in! When we've done up the new house and if you're ever in Bristol drop me a line and you can come over for a cup of tea and admire my choice of wall colour :-)

    1. Thank you Amy. I'm bowled over by people's compliments on the decor! We're planning floorboards and similar colour schemes, so hoping the house will be transformed from the state it's in now (quite plain and dull!).

  6. Gosh what a great story - like a novel. Just think of this next adventure as the sequel, it will be worth it! And you are an amazing housekeeper, I dont think i have ever lived somewhere so beautiful or well maintained!

    1. Mmmm, well I did tidy up for the photographs! But our flat is so small I'm RUTHLESS about clutter. Anything that doesn't fit or isn't used finds another home. I find living with too much 'stuff' quite stressful too, so definitely try and create a sense of calmness. Thank you for comparing my story to a novel - makes me feel more interesting! x

  7. Your home is beautiful! I'm impressed by how little clutter and mess you have considering you have three children in one flat. I know I'll be sad when we ever leave our current house, but you know home is really where the people you love are and just think how much fun you will have making your new house feel like home. Crossing everything that the sale goes through smoothly!
